Founded, January
7, 1916

Troop #1’s first
registration was with 29 boys on January 7, 1916. Ed Krewso and Rex Kiffe
shared the Scoutmaster post. Krewson was initially shown as Scoutmaster,
although other registrations indicated that Kiffe was Scoutmaster until 1920,
Krewson took over.

Troop 1 was sponsored by the Abington YMCA from 1916
to 1923, when Abington Presbyterian Church began its long stretch as the
sponsoring institution. 2011 is the 87th year of the sponsorship from
Abington Presbyterian.

The troop included and includes all boys of faith, race, color,
religion, ethnicity, national origin, and age. Troop 1 is
supported by adult leaders and a Troop Committee. The Troop has
had 33 Scoutmasters in its 95 years. Troop 1 is very proud of
all the good works done by all members. Check out our Eagle’s
