Here's a typical gear list for camping with Troop 1.  In addition, scouts should ALWAYS have their Handbooks with them.  Scouts may bring their own tents, or they may use troop tents.  The official scout field uniform (Class A), is to be worn to and from all scouting events.  Boots or sturdy walking shoes are required for camping trips.  Sneakers do not provide enough support or protection for a weekend in the field.  Finally, no electronics are allowed at scout activities.  These include hand-held games, personal music players, televisions, etc.  Scouting events are designed to build leadership and teamwork, and electronic gear distracts from that goal.
